As a “classic laboratory” environment, students learn how theory is applied to the practice of business as it relates to their academic discipline. The PIVIP provides students with a “live-lab” learning opportunity where they gain experience with accountants, lawyers, and executives who believe in building the skills that students need to excel in the real world. Client Firms will provide the student with detailed responsibilities including:
- Objectives of tasks and measurable assignments.
- Distribution of job descriptions and expectations prior to the start of the student internship.
- The name of the organization contact person and necessary contact information.
- Agree to prepare a timely student performance evaluation.
- Agree to stay in contact with faculty supervisor.
- Agree to complete the supervisor evaluation in time for the final grade.
The final approval of the internship position to be used as academic credit course is made by the dean or department chair of the student's academic program.
